RÉMY MARTIN CENTAUR DANCE SHOWDOWN FINALS

More than 2,500 people turned up at Marina Bay Sands as six dance crews battled for top honours, with a special captivating performance by Rémy Martin Celebrity Spokesperson and International Superstar, Jolin Tsai
 
Singapore, 21 January 2013 – In partnership with leading global luxury cognac brand Rémy Martin, Marina Bay Sands played host to Rémy Martin Centaur Dance Showdown Finals at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre Hall C on Friday, 18 January 2013. More than 2,500 people turned up for this exciting dance competition as well as a special mini-concert showcase by Rémy Martin Celebrity Spokesperson and International Superstar, Jolin Tsai. S.I.N.E. Crew from Vietnam emerged victor and danced away with the grand title of “Asia’s Ultimate Urban Dance Crew” and a cash prize of US$10,000.
 
The atmosphere at the event was electrifying as members of the media, invited guests and the public were all pumped up for an evening of dance excitement and celebrity glamour. Amongst the list of celebrities who attended included Singapore’s Beam Artistes May Wan, Choy Wan, Keagan Kang, Julian Low, Perfect 98.7FM DJ Rosalyn Lee, Thai actress and singer Yaya Ying, Malaysia’s professional dancer and choreographer Maple Loo and India’s renowned choreographer Swarupraj Medara.

As the drinks of the night, which included Rémy Martin V.S.O.P., Piper Heidsieck and SKYY Vodka, flowed freely, Rémy Martin Centaur Dance Showdown was kicked off by the Ringmaster of the finals, Dominic Lau, who took to the stage to introduce the six dance crews and the esteemed panel of judges.
The six competing dance crews were The Zoo Thailand (Thailand), Katoon Network (Malaysia), Team Swarup (India), KRUMPinoy (The Philippines), S.I.N.E. Crew (Vietnam) and Radikal Forze (Singapore).

The judging panel comprised of Rémy Martin Celebrity Spokesperson and International Superstar Jolin Tsai, Vietnamese singer-superstar Ho Ngoc Ha, Japanese breakdance artist Katsuyuki Ishikawa, and Singaporean hip hop artist Sheikh Haikel.

The dance competition saw each dance crew performing a three-minute choreographed routine as well as a battle round where the dance crews, two at a time, pitted their dance skills and stage presence against each other.

After the dance competition rounds were completed, the highly-anticipated performance by Jolin Tsai got everyone up on their feet as they surged to the front of the stage. Ever the consummate and captivating artiste, Jolin performed four of her hit numbers - 美人计, 大艺术, 倒带, 舞娘, wearing a bright red tube dress and an outer-corset lighted up with her fans cheering on and singing along to her songs.

 
The night ended on a high note as S.I.N.E. Crew from Vietnam were crowned the winner of US$10,000 and the title of “Asia’s Ultimate Urban Dance Crew”

 In addition to the grand title, two other awards were given out: the Centaur Spirit Award and the Audience Favorite Award. Malaysia’s Katoon Network was awarded the Centaur Spirit Award for demonstrating the most heart and passion in their performance while Singapore’s Radikal Forze took home the Audience Favorite Award which was based entirely on fans' votes through Facebook and SMS.

Presented by Rémy Martin, this dance competition aims to showcase the passion, talent and ingenuity of dancers from across six countries – Singapore, Malaysia, India, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Since August last year, Rémy Martin has been staging high-profile competitions in the region in search of the most outstanding dance crews to represent their countries in the final showdown at Marina Bay Sands.
Even as the dance competition ended, the night of revelry had just begun as ticket holders were invited to stay back for the Official Centaur Dance Showdown After-Party with renowned guest deejay, DJ Andrew Chow, spinning the dance tracks.
